Fasting| Food for the Spirit

Spiritual feeding is physical fasting. It is like the rain water and sun is to fresh, healthy green grass and wild flowers, or enormous trees with deep roots and no hollowness. The outcome is always beautiful and fruitful IF you repent, have faith, go into it with truth and honesty, with an open heart and allow yourself to be vulnerable and egoless let go, listen and allow the holy spirit to lead you.

Why do people fast?

Here are the top 10 most common reasons:

  1. To focus on the inner self — which is spiritual
  2. Connect/bond with God
  3. Breakthroughs/Victory/Answers to prayers
  4. Deliverance
  5. To ground oneself in times of chaos/trouble/doubt
  6. Grow spiritually
  7. Healing
  8. Understanding
  9. Peace
  10. They’ve tried everything else on their own and nothing else as worked.

What are you fasting from?

It depends on what takes up most of your energy/time regularly but also what you typically use to numb down your inner spirit/emotions (drugs, alcohol, eating, watching tv.

My first fast, was for 1 week. I did not eat until sundown and I only had a glass of wine if any alcohol at meal time (1 regular portion meal with no second helpings).

During the day, I only drank water, prayed (alone and with others on a prayer line), studied the Word, wrote in my journal what I dreamed and what I heard, felt, or saw that spoke to my spirit& NO TV and limited phone time—- just praise and worship music where I was very much an active participate.

Of course I was also working during this time, so on any breaks including “lunch break”— this is what I did. I was DESPERATE for God’s answers to my questions (which I wrote in my journal) and He answered every single one. So many things manifested and became very clear to me.

In addition to this, every night of my fast, I dreamed strongly and vividly—-every one was a prophetic dream, leading me and showing me where, how, why, even timing. 70% of those dreams I’ve seen play out already and that fast was in 2016. I wrote them (my dreams) all down just as vividly as they were given to me and as I wrote them down, I would ask God what does this mean or what does that mean—and immediately he spoke it to my spirit--that I wrote down too.

How does it feel?

  1. You will get tired and you will get irritable, maybe even bored but stay the course and do not give up or give in. This is the devil using your human weakness—that which is in mind and body -to relinquish yourself from the inner workings of your spirit and connection with God. Remind yourself — as often as you need to—why you are doing it and keep your spiritual strength up in God.
  2. For me, I know when I’m in the presence of the Holy Spirit when I get chills during revelation, when my feet and/or hands suddenly become warm as I’m praying, when my ears start to ring—when there is a warmth hovering around and over me, when there is the smell of lavender or another very sweet aroma in the air suddenly even though there isn’t a “logical” reason for it.
  3. It feels weird at first to hear these thoughts, as you wonder if you are making these things up in your head or if God is really speaking to you. It was actually one of the things I asked God about during the fast I spoke of earlier. He told me that I would know it’s Him by knowing His Word because by knowing His Word, I would then know and understand who He is by His nature. Then he reminded me of these two verses: Jeremiah 29:11| Hebrews 4:12
  4. There were times when I would speak something that I know I haven’t read or learned ANYWHERE so accurately and with confidence like fire from the pit of my soul boiling up to form the speech in my mouth—-and I’d surprise myself bc when I looked it up, it was correct., documented; this had happened to me quite a few times when I was a teenager and was the beginning of my prophesying. John 14:26| Joel 2:28
